National seminar scheduled on Saturday
The International Network of Children's Ministry is conducting a national seminar beginning 8 a.m. Saturday at Canyon Ridge Christian Church, 6200 W. Lone Mountain Road.
The daylong seminar consists of four workshops and one mini-workshop.
It is open to the public and will conclude at 3 p.m. Cost is $34, with group discounts available and lunch included. Half-day registration is available. For more information, call International Network of Children's Ministry at (800) 324-4543.
Benefits to be discussed at fair on Friday
The National Association of Retired Federal Employees will sponsor an Open Season Health Benefits Fair 9 a.m.-noon Friday at the Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush St.
Health insurance carriers in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program and Medicare representatives will discuss their programs. Current and retired federal employees are invited. For more information, call 228-9929 or 255-7019.
Dedication on tap for Trail Canyon
The city of Henderson is hosting the grand opening of Trail Canyon Park with the dedication ceremony and ribbon cutting 8 a.m. Saturday at 1065 Trail Canyon Road. All residents are invited to attend.
Scheduled activities will center on an adventurous outdoor theme. For additional information, call 565-4264.
Kids can tackle trout at BMI pool
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department will host its ninth annual fishing derby 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the BMI Outdoor Pool, 105 W. Basic Road.
The pool will be stocked with trout for the derby. The free event is open to youths under the age of 16.
Participants must register in advance for a two-hour time block. Youths are encouraged to bring their own poles and equipment. A limited number will be made available to those who need them.
Participants must bring their own coolers and ice to carry home the fish they catch. To register or for more information, call 565-2123 or 450-8813.
Genealogy seminar
A two-part seminar will be held by the Jewish Genealogy Society of Southern Nevada-West 1 p.m. Sunday at the Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave. Admission is free. For more information, call 363-8230 days or 871-9773 after 6 p.m.
Costume ball
The Square and Compass Club of Jodie Cannon, Sr. Lodge No. 3, Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge, F & A M, of Nevada Inc., will host the '60s and '70s Costume Ball of the Century 7 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Jasmine Gardens, 2550 Duneville St. For tickets or more information, call 399-1231.
Diabetes information
Information on diabetes will be offered 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday in the MacDonald Conference Center at St. Rose Dominican Hospital, Siena Campus, 3001 St. Rose Parkway. For more information, call 616-4327.
