Valley of Fire marathon Saturday

The second annual Valley of Fire marathon, half-marathon and 10-K run will be held Saturday. The event will begin approximately 40 miles northeast of Las Vegas near the park's entrance, and the course will take runners through scenic rock formations featuring the red sandstone the region is famous for.

The USTA-sanctioned race will be a qualifying event for the Boston Marathon.

Registration fees are $30 for the marathon, $25 for the half-marathon and $20 for the 10-K.
