Annual dog show scheduled Saturday
The Clark County Parks and Recreation Department's 11th annual Strut Your Mutt dog show will be 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at Fancier's Park, 5800 E. Flamingo Road.
Admission is $3 per participant/dog to enter all of the competitions and $1 or a bag/can of pet food for spectators. Event participants are encouraged to bring food or pet care items for donation to local animal rescue organizations.
All pets must be on a leash and under control. For more information, call 455-8206.
Public invited to free event Saturday
The public is invited to a free health fair 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at Desert Breeze Community Center, 8275 Spring Mountain Road.
The health fair will feature hearing and vision tests, blood pressure testing, cholesterol screening, body fat analysis, flexibility, nutrition, massage and more. Information on diabetes, arthritis, Alzheimer's, skin cancer and preventive medicine will also be available. For more information, call 455-8334.
Variety Club radiothon planned
Variety Club of Southern Nevada and Station Casinos will be hosting the Care for Kids radiothon Saturday on KQOL 93.1-FM to raise awareness of needy children in Southern Nevada.
Entertainer Lance Burton and Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman will be among the guests on the program that begins 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday with a broadcast from Sunset Station and satellite broadcasts from the Texas, Boulder and Palace Station hotel-casinos.
The focus of the Care for Kids radiothon concept is to share some of the personal stories of the 17,500 needy children served by Variety Club of Southern Nevada. For more information, call 383-8466.
Fairs on tap at Henderson locations
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a holiday craft fair from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Black Mountain Recreation Center, 599 Greenway Road and from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 25 at the Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway.
The fair will feature more than 40 vendors from Southern Nevada selling homemade crafts and one-of-a-kind items including jewelry, pottery and glassware. For additional information, call 565-2880 or 435-3814.
Just 4 Kids event to parade through city
The Just 4 Kids Motorcycle Toy Run Saturday will start at the Thomas & Mack Center and will proceed up Las Vegas Boulevard to Fremont Street and then south along Boulder Highway to Sam's Town for a catered barbecue with entertainment.
Cost of participation is $15 for registration fee, one unwrapped toy, stuffed animal or game for ages 2-16.
Nonriders are welcome at the barbecue for a $10 donation to the Just 4 Kids Foundation. For more information, call Tina at 361-4451.
