Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000 | 10:27 a.m.

United Airlines has become the first U.S. carrier to allow travelers to use Internet-enabled cell phones to reserve and buy e-tickets for flights originating in the United States. Since July, customers registered at the company's Web site, www.united.com, have been able to check flight schedules and mileage accounts using their cell phones. Besides ticket purchasing, the options now include itinerary viewing, seat selection and meal preferences.
