Letter: Hard to forgive state ‘Puritans’
Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000 | 3:49 a.m.
Response to the passage of Question 2:
Hooray for the sanctimonious "Puritans." You came in search of religious freedom and now seek to oppress others with your beliefs.
Fortunately, the God I believe in is all about acceptance and forgiveness, and will forgive you even if I cannot. It will take me, a mere mortal, quite some time to forgive. As of now I judge you to be persons so out of touch with your own sexuality you seek to relieve your frustrations at the expense of others.
Your campaign involved deception, no doubt believing that the ends justified the means? As "Momma always said, virtue is as virtue does."
I am glad my God forgives, because as for me it will take some time. I must first forgive myself for not doing more to fight this. But I will continue to battle oppressive forces such as this so that maybe someday I can be proud to call myself a Nevadan. I know that day is not today.
