Letter: Nevada doesn’t hold attorneys accountable
Friday, Nov. 10, 2000 | 10:18 a.m.
And if these appointed Nevada State Bar attorneys so choose, they can do nothing when a person has been clearly violated against by one of the bar's own.
All other professional organizations have to answer to an unbiased state-run licensing bureau, such as the Contractors Board, Gaming Board, and real estate agents, etc. Why not Nevada's lawyers?
Don't take me wrong, I am not for big government, but many folks are being wronged by the ones who are supposed to protect us under highest standards.
And unfortunately a few don't have these highest standards in mind when they represent us, and are only interested in padding their wallets, knowing they have only a biased, private organization to answer to.
I believe new legislation should be enacted so that our state's attorneys have to answer for professional misconduct.
