Letter: Retirees ignored by power panel
Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000 | 10:10 a.m.
Gov. Kenny Guinn has now convened a panel to advise him on implementing Nevada's own electrical deregulation law, but the governor's panel lacks direct representation for the Silver State's hundreds of thousands of retirees.
AARP repeatedly requested to be included and has, apparently, been ignored. Whether the governor admits it or not, energy costs are of vital interest to those on fixed incomes.
The 17-member panel has twice the number of representatives of business and industry as it does those representing consumers. Whose needs come first on the governor's agenda?
