Las Vegas kids pick Gore
Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000 | 10:53 a.m.
Even though the country still didn't have a president-elect this morning, more than 29,000 Las Vegas youth had their say during KidsVoting on Tuesday: They pick Vice President Al Gore.
The area students voted in the mock election to teach them about the process. Gore won that polling by 6,000 votes.
In the County Commission races the youngsters preferred incumbent Bruce Woodbury in District A, incumbent Mary Kincaid in District B, School Board member Lois Tarkanian in District C -- by 77 votes -- and challenger Joanna Wesley in District D.
Students agreed with adults in the congressional races, voting overwhelmingly for both Republican John Ensign's Senate bid and Democrat Shelley Berkley's re-election to Congress.
