LV resort installing customer tracking system

The Venetian announced plans to install a resort-wide software system that will allow the resort to develop marketing campaigns based on each guest's dining preferences.
The system will be developed by OpenTable Inc. of San Francisco, and will link together the property's concierge department, casino services and restaurants.
Through the system, hotel employees and guests alike will be able to make reservations through the Internet or the Venetian computer system at eight of the Venetian's restaurants. The system will then gather a variety of information on each customer, allowing the property to conduct marketing campaigns based on that customer's history and preferences.
Restaurants will also be able to access reports on diners, including such information as dining preferences, allergies, birthdays and anniversaries.
Restaurants involved in the initial installation of the system include Canaletto, Lutece, Postrio, Star Canyon, Tsunami, Valentino, Zeffirino and Pinot Brasserie.
"OpenTable's (system) will not only simplify our operations and encourage our hotel and casino guests to dine on-property, it will help us enhance our service by enabling us to recognize each one of our guests as if they just stayed with us last week," said Michael French, the Venetian's senior vice president of operations.
