SUN STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS
The UNLV women's basketball team will open the 2000-2001 season today with an exhibition game against the Chinese National team at 5 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Coach Regina Miller's Lady Rebels have 11 players, including four starters, returning from last year's team that was 17-12 and finished fifth in the Mountain West Conference.
Leading the returning starters is junior forward Linda Frohlich, a preseason All-America player who averaged 21.6 points and 11.4 rebounds as a sophomore. Also back for her junior season is guard Kinesha Davis, who averaged 14.3 points and six rebounds a game in 1999.
Other returning players include guards Dayna Gambill and Constance Jinks and forwards Brooke Ingalls and Erin Johansson.
The Lady Rebels will play another exhibition game at 5 p.m. on Saturday, against the National Women's Basketball League No. 8 Elite team at the Thomas & Mack, before opening the regular season on Nov. 20 at home against Texas-San Antonio.
