Letter: Nader backers: Please pick Gore
Monday, Nov. 6, 2000 | 10:14 a.m.
When faced with the choice of Vice President H. Humphrey and Richard Nixon, I and many thousands either did not vote in the 1968 election or voted for a third party candidate. And so Nixon got elected.
Instead of the Vietnam conflict winding down to which we were opposed, it widened. Protesters were harassed, beaten or ignored. The country was also presented with the Watergate scandal.
It then became apparent to me that it does matter that you vote for the "lesser of the two evils." I admit to agreeing with most of Nader's platform. But the thought of Dubya being president gives me the creeps. For I see reactionary forces taking over with their agenda that will spell disaster to many of the principles we treasure.
So please, think twice, thrice before you aid in the election of "The Lord High Executioner of Texas."
