Letter: Keep home games off TV
Friday, Nov. 3, 2000 | 11:26 a.m.
I read where Coach John Robinson is concerned about the attendance at Sam Boyd Stadium and rightly so.
It does not take a brain surgeon to figure it out. Forget about location, time and conditions. The problem is a brain-dead athletic director's decision to televise home games locally to stimulate attendance is a farce.
The Air Force and Nevada-Reno games could have attracted upwards of 30,000 people with no local TV.
Coach Robinson and his team are doing their very best to stimulate attendance and Charlie Cavagnaro is doing the opposite. The AD's decision to televise locally affects the attendance.
Also it is a slap in the face regarding people who buy game-day tickets, season ticket holders and scholarship donors, of which I am and pay approximately $4,000 for eight seats.
If he did such a good job in Memphis, why did he leave? This is Las Vegas, not Memphis.
