Joe Delaney remembers 1967: Waylon Jennings at the Golden Nugget

Friday, Nov. 3, 2000 | 9:52 a.m.

Waylon Jennings and his Waylors were top-country recording artists in 1967. The Golden Nugget was the No. 1 country music venue in Las Vegas at the time. This was a lounge format rather than main showroom. Garn Littledyke, the second feature, was also a recording artist. He is still active but has not played Las Vegas in several decades. The Kimberleys, a family group, and the Emily Raye Show, had third and fourth billing respectively. They are long gone. Jennings went on to join Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson as one of the Highwaymen in the 1980s and still plays Las Vegas today.
