Walt Disney Co. and MGM MIRAGE were set today to announce plans to open an ESPN Zone restaurant and entertainment venue at the New York-New York hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip.
The sports-themed restaurant will be the seventh outlet in the chain, joining ESPN Zones in Baltimore, Chicago, New York, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., and Anaheim, Calif. The Las Vegas restaurant is expected to open in the summer of 2001.
The 33,000-square-foot ESPN Zone will consist of an American grill restaurant, a game-viewing room and a 10,000-square-foot arena featuring interactive sports games and attractions. It will be in the space previously occupied by the Motown Cafe, which closed in October.
ESPN Zone is operated by Disney, the owner of the ESPN cable network.
