Letter: Bush would be a disaster as president
Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000 | 9:23 a.m.
He says he's a leader. Where? Texas ranks near last on any environmental list. He says he can bring people together. All I see are columns of big businessmen supporting him with handfuls of money. He says he's trustworthy. Does that include obfuscating how he got into the National Guard during a war? And not telling the truth about the smog in Houston?
He says he's a friend of the working man. The truth is, the biggest portion of his tax cut will go to the top 1 percent. Bush uses the word "truth" a lot, but the truth is, he'd be a disaster as our president. He says he's a compassionate conservative. Hey, George, try selling that compassion stuff to the 142 you've executed (some of whom were denied DNA testing), and the 700,000 Texas kids without medical insurance.
If you want our country to regress, Bush is your man. But if you want to continue with the prosperity of the last eight years, vote for Al Gore. Think about it ... Bush can't even run his own state. Do you think he's ready to run our country? Think about how he'll load the Supreme Court and abolish freedom of choice.
Vote Al Gore. And remember, a vote for Ralph Nader is a vote for George Bush. See you at the polls.
