Hascheff’s spending at record heights
Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000 | 11:17 a.m.
At-large Councilman Pierre Hascheff has raised and spent about $145,000 in his bid for re-election, the Reno Gazette-Journal reported.
Hascheff is running against former councilwoman Judy Pruett-Herman. She's raised about $40,000. She said local casinos, construction interests and other businesses are pouring money into Hascheff's campaign.
Hascheff has spent nearly 50 percent more than the old record of $100,000 that Bill Newberg spent in 1996.
Hascheff said he's been his own best backer over the years, contributing nearly $100,000 to his own campaigns in three city council elections.
