Henderson planning annual tribute
Henderson has scheduled its annual Veterans Day tribute 10 a.m. Saturday at the Henderson Civic Center Plaza and Veterans Wall next to City Hall.
Mayor Jim Gibson and the City Council will honor local veterans and dedicate the names of 37 deceased veterans on the wall.
The memorial wall, dedicated in 1994, is inscribed with more than 1,350 names.
Annual fair for homeless on Wednesday
The Southern Nevada Homeless Coalition will be holding its seventh Las Vegas Stand Down 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday at Cashman Center.
This annual event brings over 50 local public and private social service agencies together to provide a one-stop spot for local homeless people to get services.
All events are free and there will be an on-site job fair. Lunch will be served at 10:30 a.m. For more information, call 647-5970.
UNLV professor to talk 'in-character'
UNLV English lecturer David Barto will give a presentation of Henry David Thoreau at 7:30 p.m. Monday at UNLV.
Barto will give "in-costume and in-character" presentation of the life, times, and writings of the author and philosopher.

Salvation Army will host Monday program
The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary will present "The Arts in Las Vegas" 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Army's Administrative Center, 1900 Palomino Lane.
Richard McGee, lead professor of music at Community College Southern Nevada and associate conductor of the Las Vegas Philharmonic, will present the program.

Linkletter to host evening of music
The 2000 Veterans Day Concert: A Celebration of Faith and Patriotism will begin 7:30 p.m Monday at the Las Vegas Hilton Theatre.
Co-hosts Art Linkletter ands Adrian Cronauer will welcome an evening of music and celebration with the VA National Medical Musical Group, the First Presbyterian Church of Las Vegas and Alan Lewis of the Las Vegas Symphony Orchestra.

Diabetes workshop
A diabetes workshop and luncheon will be held 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Valley Hospital Medical Center, 620 Shadow Lane. A registered dietitian will discuss various diabetes topics. For more information or to register, call 388-4937.
