Wear sturdy boots and bring curiosity
Children and adults have the opportunity each week to get plenty of exercise as they learn about the environment during programs offered by the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.
The hikes and other educational programs are free, but reservations must be made by calling 363-1922.

Hospital opens new four-story garage
University Medical Center is opening a four-story parking garage at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the hospital complex at Shadow Lane near West Charleston Boulevard.
The project, begun in May, adds 438 new parking spaces and cost $4.5 million.
Fund-raiser to help diabetes association
The seventh annual Kiss-A-Pig fund-raising event to benefit the American Diabetes Association will be 11 a.m. -2 p.m. Saturday at the food court of the Galleria at Sunset mall.

Art and craft fair
Christ the King Catholic Church will hold an Arts and Crafts Fair noon-6:30 p.m. Saturday at 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive.
Fire station opening
The city of Las Vegas will hold an opening ceremony for its newest Fire and Rescue Station, No. 41, on the northwest side of the city at 1:30 p.m. Friday at 6989 N. Buffalo Drive.
4 Kids Poker Run
Police Officers Riding 4 Kids Poker Run will begin 10 a.m. Sunday at Starbucks, 4500 E. Sunset Road. Participants will ride and play to raise funds benefiting the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation. For more information, call 363-5455.
Fund-raiser
The Summerlin Women's Club fifth annual fund-raiser will be 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the Regent Las Vegas in the Grand Ballroom. Tickets are $50. To reserve your seat or for more information, call Irene at 869-3457.
Fry bread
An Indian fry bread demonstration and craft market will be 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday in the theater courtyard at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road. All ages are welcome. For more information, call 733-3616.
