Alex Tagliani of Las Vegas was released from a Southern California hospital Tuesday morning after suffering injuries during a crash in Monday's CART Marlboro 500 at California Speedway. Tagliani, 28, underwent x-rays and a CT scan, which revealed no fracture of the vertebrae. According to a Player's Forsythe Racing spokesperson, Tagliani suffered some bruising of the back and was to fly to Indianapolis to meet with noted auto racing physician Dr. Terry Trammell for further evaluation. Tagliani, who finished sixth in the race, was injured when the engine on his Reynard/Ford let go two laps from the end of the 500-mile race, spun in his own oil and hit the wall in Turn 1.
