Youth regional meet at LVHS

The City of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services will host the regional qualifying meet for the Hershey National Track and Field Youth program on June 14 at Las Vegas High School. Registration is scheduled from 5-5:45 p.m. and the meet starts at 6 p.m.
Contestants will be divided into three age categories, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14 with birth certificates being required for all participants. Five dashes, a 1,600-meter run, 4 x 100-meter relay, standing long jump and softball throw events are scheduled.
The times and distances recorded at the state finals will be compared with those of California, Hawaii, Utah and Arizona and a regional team will be selected. Winners of the regional meet will receive an all-expense paid trip to Hershey, Pa., for the national finals. Call 229-6729 for more information.
