An August trial has been set for a Las Vegas man accused of causing a wreck that killed four people three weeks ago.
District Judge Sally Loehrer set Michael Pickett's Aug. 21 trial date after Pickett pleaded not guilty this morning to a multitude of charges in the May 10 accident.
According to police, Pickett rear-ended a car occupied by Mary Lynn Sargent, 46, James Burton Hendren, 59, and Michelle Jamieson, 22, while they were stopped at a red light at Main Street and Washington Avenue.
Hendren and Sargent died at the scene, and Jamieson, who was eight months pregnant, died several hours after undergoing an emergency Caesarean section. The baby, Julius, died May 16.
Prosecutors allege that Pickett's blood alcohol content shortly after the accident was 0.22 and that he had marijuana in his system.
Pickett faces four counts each of driving under the influence of an intoxicating liquor and a controlled or prohibited substance, involuntary manslaughter, reckless driving and leaving the scene of the accident.
Pickett is being held in the Clark County Detention Center on $4 million bail.
