Many Mirage Resorts execs stay with MGM

Wednesday, May 31, 2000 | 11:07 a.m.

Though Steve Wynn will be leaving Mirage Resorts Inc. today, a number of his top lieutenants are staying on with new owner MGM Grand Inc.

Top on the list is Bobby Baldwin, currently president of the Bellagio and chief financial officer of Mirage. Effective today, Baldwin will become president and chief executive of Mirage Resorts, which will be operated as a subsidiary of MGM Grand.

Baldwin, who reports to MGM Grand Chairman J. Terrence Lanni, will retain his position as president of the Bellagio, but will turn over his CFO duties to MGM Grand President and CFO Jim Murren.

Leaving the Mirage hotel-casino to join Wynn at the Desert Inn is Mark Schorr, president of the hotel-casino. Schorr will be replaced by Bill McBeath, currently president of the Treasure Island. McBeath's position at the Treasure Island will be filled by Scott Sibella, currently vice president of casino marketing at Mirage Resorts.

Bob Sheldon will retain his position as president of the Golden Nugget, while Jeff Dahl will remain president of the Beau Rivage in Biloxi. Barry Shier, chairman of the Golden Nugget and top executive at Beau Rivage, resigned before the merger's completion, though he hasn't said what his plans are.

Alan Feldman, long-time Mirage spokesman, will become vice president of public affairs for MGM Grand, while Punam Mathur will be director of community relations for the combined company.

MGM Grand also announced Tuesday that Gary Jacobs, a Los Angeles attorney, will join the company as executive vice president, general counsel and director. Jacobs has served as outside counsel for MGM Grand for a number of years.
