Former Dunes slot manager Pors dies

Donald Francis Pors, a former slot department manager at the Dunes hotel-casino, died last week at a Sparks hospital. He was 63.
Pors of Reno had lived in Las Vegas between 1963 and 1980 and worked at the Dunes, the historic Strip hotel at the corner of Flamingo Road and Las Vegas Boulevard that was imploded to make way for the Bellagio.
Pors was born on Jan. 28, 1937, in San Francisco.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Campbell Pors; one daughter, Leslie Lempka of Reno; two sons, Andrew Pors of Granite Bay, Calif., and Matthew Pors of Rocklin, Calif.; his mother, Hellen Pors of Belmont, Calif.; three brothers, Peter Pors of Saratoga, Calif., Jim Pors of San Jose, Calif., and Alan Pors of Campbell, Calif.; and one sister, Clare Pors Thorpe of Redwood City, Calif.
Memorial services were held at Covenant Presbyterian Church on Saturday in Reno.
The family suggests donations to Habitat for Humanity.
