New billing format debuts in Vegas
Friday, May 26, 2000 | 10:42 a.m.
Sprint's new reader-friendly telephone bills will begin showing up in Las Vegas mailboxes beginning Saturday.
By June 27, every customer should get a look at the new bills, which call attention to billing amounts and other important information with special graphic elements like white-on-black reversed type.
The bills also more clearly identify rate codes and spell out which companies are the provider of a customer's special services like long-distance calling. Whenever a new company provides the service, the bill notes it -- a means to head off "slamming," or changing a service provider without notifying the customer, an illegal practice.
A Sprint spokeswoman said because billing cycles are staggered throughout the month, all customers will see the changes on the bills by June 27.
