LV unions sue over benefits

The trustees of the Laborers International Union of North America local 872 sued Warren Construction and its two officers, alleging they defaulted on employment benefit contributions to their workers' trust funds.
In a U.S. District Court suit, the trustees, which seek an order to force the contractor and its two officers, Patrick Warren and Warren Hafen, to submit to a contract compliance audit, said the defendants refused to submit monthly remittance reports and to make timely payments to the trust funds.
The defendants could not be reached for comment.
Separately, the trustees of a local carpenters' union sued Max Riggs Construction Co., alleging it failed to pay employment benefits to its workers' trust funds.
In a U.S. District Court suit, the trustees said Max Riggs refused to submit monthly remittance reports and to make contributions to its workers represented by the Southern California-Nevada Regional Council of Carpenters.
Max Riggs could not be reached for comment.
