Norman Freeman, who has been president of Scenic Airlines for the past year after holding several administrative positions with the company and its predecessors, has added the title of chief executive officer.
Freeman took the position following the death of David Young earlier this month. The announcement was made by Gene Yamagata, chairman of Yamagata Enterprises, which owns Scenic.
Freeman, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel and a former administrator with Loral Aerospace, managed the construction of the Las Vegas Executive Air Terminal as general manager of Eagle Flight Services. He later became vice president of administration and safety officer for Eagle Canyon Airlines.
When Eagle Canyon Airlines and Scenic merged in 1999, Freeman was named president and Young, chief executive officer. His focus has been on developing the Japanese tourism market.
Scenic Airlines, the world's largest air tour operator, offers flights over Grand Canyon National Park, Southern Utah's Bryce Canyon National Park and Monument Valley and flies about 25,000 passengers a month.
