County, retailer in flood damage suit

Seventeen Las Vegas residents sued Clark County and Home Depot Inc., alleging poor flood control measures led to damage of their homes and personal property.
In a Clark County District Court suit, the plaintiffs alleged rainwater built up and flooded the neighborhood of Olive Street and Broadalbin Drive during a storm on July 8 because of a locked fence at the entrance to a drainage channel tunnel and a wall constructed by Home Depot behind a store at Lamb and Charleston boulevards. The wall is part of the drainage channel that runs underneath Lamb.
The suit said the storm caused debris and rainwater to flow east on Olive Street towards the fence that Clark County had allegedly kept locked at the entrance to the drainage channel.
A Clark County official declined comment.
