Letter: Union labor will stop flaws
Thursday, May 25, 2000 | 9:14 a.m.
As with every industry, there are certain problem areas that should be corrected. Unscrupulous contractors notwithstanding, the article seemingly points out the single greatest complaint in home construction is the quality of workmanship. I agree.
Workmanship, however, in the Las Vegas area should never be an issue. But since it apparently is, surely it is the easiest construction problem to resolve. How? Use union labor! Yes, the construction costs may be increased 5 percent to 10 percent, but one would not see the problems discussed in your article, either.
Las Vegas contractors have access to some of the finest craftsmen in the country right here. Build union and the construction flaws will stop, builders will not get sued and homeowners will be happy.
