EDMONTON, Alberta -- Even the chilly 60-degree temperatures here could not cool down the hot bats of the Las Vegas Stars on Wednesday night at Telus Field.
The Stars (26-17), thanks to grand slam home runs by Dusty Allen and John Roskos, rallied from a 3-0 deficit to win their fourth straight game, 17-3.
Las Vegas, which earlier in the week handed Calgary a 16-3 thumping, has outscored the opposition 43-8 in its last four games.
The Stars trailed the Trappers 3-0 with two outs in the sixth when Allen got the comeback rolling, hitting an 0-2 Scot Shields pitch over the right-field fence with the bases loaded to give Las Vegas a 4-3 lead.
The Stars stretched that lead to 5-3 an inning later on backup catcher George Williams' fourth home run of the season, a solo shot just inside the right-field foul pole.
An inning later, Williams added a bases-loaded single to drive in two more and up the Stars' lead to 7-3.
Roskos highlighted a seven-run ninth for Las Vegas with his grand slam off reliever Matt Beaumont. The Stars scored seven runs on just two hits in the inning thanks to Beaumont's wildness (six walks in 1 2/3 innings), with all of the runs coming with two outs.
The teams continue their five-game series tonight with a doubleheader.
