Teen found dead in school parking lot

Wednesday, May 24, 2000 | 11:14 a.m.

The Clark County coroner's office is investigating the death of a 17-year-old found dead in a minivan in the Clark High School parking lot Tuesday afternoon.

Jeffrey S. Poulsen was found by his older sister Lisa about 4 p.m. after he failed to return home from school.

Poulsen was on the floor of the van with the keys in the ignition and the radio on, Sgt. Jim Young said.

"The cause of his death is undetermined at this time, and there are no signs of trauma," Young said.

The teen did not go to school Tuesday and may have spent the entire day inside the van in the parking lot of the school at 4291 Pennwood Ave., police said. The van appears to have been in the lot all day, with the student possibly falling asleep inside as temperatures reached 108 degrees outside.

All of the windows in the van were rolled up, and all of the doors were locked with the exception of the driver's door, Young said.

The teen was on prescription medication that was legally prescribed, Young said.
