Workshop planned for college-bound
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor a free two-part student financial aid workshop 6-8 p.m. May 30 and May 31 at the Lorna J. Kesterson Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St.
The workshop will focus on financial assistance services available to college-bound students. For more information, call 565-2121.
Picnic set to raise awareness
A picnic to mark hepatitis awareness will be held 11:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday at Hills Park in Summerlin.
The event is sponsored by Hep C Alliance of Southern Nevada and the Hep Encounter Support Group.
Donations are $5 per person, and children under 10 years of age are admitted free. Call Leanna at 252-3747 or Marsha at 804-6341.
Event on tap for Jewish singles
The first Spring Bagel Ball for Jewish singles will be held 7-11 p.m. Sunday at the Beach Nightclub, 365 S. Convention Center Drive.
The event is sponsored by the Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada's Las Vegas Jewish Singles and Coast Wide Promotions/Jewish Singles Connection.

Benefit dinner to honor Reid
The American Lung Association of Nevada will honor Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., as this year's recipient of its Distinguished Honor Award at a dinner-dance Friday.
The event will begin with cocktails and a silent auction at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner and the award presentation at 7:30 p.m.
Proceeds from this event will go to the American Lung Association. Tickets are $200 per person. Reservations may be made by calling the Reid Dinner Committee at 431-6483 or the American Lung Association of Nevada at 431-6333.
Laugh away stress
Humorists George Gilbert and Tulara Lee will discuss Reducing Stress with Laughterto the Desert Sands Business and Professional Women 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Marie Callender's Restaurant, 4875 W. Flamingo Road. Guests are welcome. Call 642-1552 or 658-5965.
Memorial Day services
Memorial Day services will be held 9 a.m. Monday at Lake Mead. Members of the Fleet Reserve Association Branch and Unit 90 and 279 and others will honor the memory of those in the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard who gave their lives defending the country. Health and fitness
MountainView Senior Health and Fitness Day is scheduled 8-11 a.m. Thursday at the Las Vegas Sportspark, 1400 N. Rampart Blvd. Las Vegas Valley Senior Friends will host the event and will offer ice skating, roller skating, access to the softball fields, a walk and/or run and breakfast. Reservations are required. Call 255-5404.
