Council OKs planting plan
Going ever greener, the Boulder City Council approved Tuesday night a resolution to plant an additional 2,000 trees as part of the city's Community Urban Forest Program.
The resolution increases the total number of new trees to root in the community under the program over a three-year period to 5,000.
Sidewalk obstacles may be limited
Sandwich boards and cafe tables scattered along the sidewalks of downtown Boulder City may be moving back inside. The City Council asked its staff to draw up a "sign encroachment overlay zone" for downtown.
The overlay zone will determine how local business owners may advertise on and use sidewalk space in front of their stores.
Five appointed to new panel
To guide the creation of a second municipal golf course in Boulder City, the City Council appointed Kirk Frantz, Jack Rosebush, Douglas Scheppmann, Tony Fiorentini and fellow council member Bryan Nix to a golf course construction technical steering committee.
City officials approved a $250,000 contract with Target Golf earlier this year for the creation of the course, which is expected to open in about two years.
