Man sought in attacks on two women in apartment

Metro Police continued searching this morning for a man suspected of beating one woman and raping another in their Las Vegas apartment.
The man stood near pay phones at a convenience store at Lake Mead and Jones boulevards from about 9:30 p.m. until about 10:15 p.m. on May 6. He then followed two women on foot back to a nearby apartment complex, police said.
The man forced his way into the women's apartment and severely beat one of the women in the face. He then sexually assaulted the other woman, ransacked the apartment and threatened the women's lives, police said.
"It's not outside the realm of possibility that this guy has done this before and the other victims were too terrified to call the police," Lt. Tom Monahan of Metro's sexual assault unit said. "The suspect deliberately followed these women back to their apartment."
The suspect was described as a light-skinned black man, about 20 years old, 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. The suspect's hair was shaved close to his head.
At the time of the attack, he was seen wearing a white baseball jersey with "Playerz" across the front and the number 69 on the back.
He also was wearing light colored pants, white tennis shoes and a light blue floppy hat.
Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Detective Sheila Hartung of the sexual assault unit at 229-3421 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
