Snow Dance will come again to Incline Village
Monday, May 22, 2000 | 4:22 a.m.
The Incline Village-Crystal Bay Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the event Oct. 14 and 15 at Sand Harbor on Lake Tahoe's northeast shore. It drew 5,000 people when it was last held in October 1998.
Plans call for the tone of the event to change from entertainment to education as Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno chairs it.
The festival will highlight Nevada's tribes: the Washoe, Paiute and Shoshone. Other tribes and dance groups from across the nation will be invited to participate.
"This is an opportunity to share knowledge, to treasure the resources these peoples are," said college spokeswoman Lisa Kaufman.
Among other things, the festival will feature American Indian food, crafts and dancing.
