-Paul Rigdon, Indians, allowed two hits over seven innings in his major league debut, a 6-1 victory over the New York Yankees.

-Brian Jordan, Braves, homered twice and drove in a career-high seven runs in Atlanta's 12-6 win over San Diego.

-Terrell Lowery and J.T. Snow, Giants. Lowery had a career-high five hits and Snow drove in five runs - all in one inning - to lead San Francisco to a 16-10 win over Milwaukee.

SIX SLAMS

Six grand slams were hit Sunday, the most in major league history in one day. The record had been five, set last Aug. 9. Anaheim's Garret Anderson hit the record-breaker off Kansas City's Chris Fussell in a 10-6 loss. San Francisco's J.T. Snow, Philadelphia's Brian Hunter, Oakland's Jason Giambi, and Los Angeles' Adrian Beltre and Shawn Green connected with the bases loaded earlier in the day.

SHELLED

Arizona's Randy Johnson gave up five runs and eight hits - all for extra bases - in the Diamondbacks' 7-6 loss to the New York Mets on Sunday. Johnson had given up just 15 extra-base hits in 74 1-3 innings entering the game, and hadn't allowed more than two earned runs in any appearance. ... Boston's Ramon Martinez gave up seven runs and six hits in 2 1-3 innings of a 7-5 loss to Detroit.

SILENT SLUGGERS

Cincinnati's Ken Griffey Jr. and Sammy Sosa of the Chicago Cubs both failed to homer in their three-game series, which ended with a 4-2 Cubs victory Sunday.

STEALING A WIN

San Francisco's Russ Ortiz allowed 10 earned runs in 6 2-3 innings of Sunday's 16-10 victory over Milwaukee. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Ortiz is the first starting pitcher to allow 10 earned runs and get a win since May 2, 1954, when Bob Friend did it for Pittsburgh in an 18-10 win over the Chicago Cubs.

SWAT KING

St. Louis' Mark McGwire hit his major league-leading 18th home run in a 7-5 victory over Pittsburgh on Sunday. It was the 540th homer of McGwire's career.

SIZZLING BATS

Atlanta had 16 hits in a 12-6 win over San Diego on Sunday. The Braves have scored 68 runs in the past nine games, and have at least 10 hits in seven straight.

SERVING 'EM UP

Houston's Jose Lima has allowed 19 home runs in nine starts this season, including two in an 8-3 loss to Montreal on Sunday. Last season, Lima gave up 30 homers in 35 starts.

SEVEN UP

Montreal capped an 8-4 homestand with an 8-3 victory over Houston on Sunday, putting the Expos seven games over .500 for the first time since 1997.

SCENERY CHANGE

Seattle's Rickey Henderson hit a leadoff home run for the second straight day, helping the Mariners to an 8-4 win over Tampa Bay on Sunday. Henderson has hit leadoff homers in back-to-back games three times in his career, having done it in 1993 and 1990 with Oakland.

STRANGE SHOT

Oakland's Ryan Christenson went 2-for-2 with an inside-the-park home run in a 13-4 victory over Minnesota on Sunday.

SLAMMED TWICE

Los Angeles' Adrian Beltre and Shawn Green hit grand slams in a 12-3 victory over Florida on Sunday. It was the first time the Dodgers had two grand slams in a game since Aug. 23, 1985, against Montreal.

SNAPPED

Chicago White Sox reliever Keith Foulke, who had not allowed a run in his previous 18 innings, gave up a solo homer in a 2-1 victory over Toronto on Sunday. ... San Francisco snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 16-10 victory over Milwaukee.

Baltimore's 6-5 loss to Texas on Sunday was its 15th in the last 17 games.

Chicago White Sox starter Cal Eldred allowed three hits in 6 2-3 scoreless innings of a 2-1 win over Toronto on Sunday. ... Los Angeles' Kevin Brown pitched a seven-hitter, retiring 17 straight batters at one point, in a 12-3 win over Florida. ... Kevin Tapani pitched 8 2-3 innings for the Chicago Cubs in a 4-2 win over Cincinnati. ... Oakland's Tim Hudson allowed four hits in seven scoreless innings of a 13-4 victory over Minnesota. ...
