Mexico’s Sanchez sets Ibero American record

Portugal's Fernanda Ribeiro and Brazil's Soraya Viera Teixeira also broke meet records in women's events. Ribeiro won the 5,000 in 15:29.47, and Teixeira took the 3,000 in 10:49.52.
In the men's 100, Brazil's Vicente Lenilson de Lima won with a time of 10.28 seconds, beating Cuba's Luis Perez Rionda by 0.13 seconds. Mexico's Liliana Allen took the women's race in 11.57.
Brazilians swept the 800 and 400 hurdles. Hudson Santos de Souza won the men's 800 in 1:47.18, and Luciana de Paula Mendes took the women's race in 2:01.77. In the 400 hurdles, Eronilde Nunes de Arujo won the men's race in 49.35, and Ana Paula Carvalho Pereira took the women's competition in 57.59.
Brazil's Nelson Carlos Ferreira Junior won the long jump at 25 feet, 11 inches.
