Letter: Governor’s ideas waste money
Sunday, May 21, 2000 | 8:49 a.m.
1. Institute a new computer at DMV, which will save time and use fewer people to gather more data on taxpayers.
2. Hire more people for DMV to save more time and money.
3. Hire people to handle the extra data the DMV has gathered.
4. Create a whole new tax to pay even higher salaries for the new employees. (Government employees already are paid 12 to 15 percent more than those of us in the private sector doing the same jobs.)
So, what is the difference between good logic and Guinn's convoluted logic. Oh, I'd say about 500 employees, $15 million, and several million man hours wasted waiting in line.
