Editorial: Sun program aids disadvantaged kids

It has been 30 years since the beginning of the Sun Camp Fund, which started somewhat modestly. In 1970, its first year, 13 children went to camp. Since then, however, it has grown dramatically: Last year more than 900 valley children, at a cost exceeding $185,000, went to camps in Nevada, Arizona and California.
While the program is much larger today, its mission remains the same: Every child deserves a camping experience. Those from the ages of 7 to 15 who are economically disadvantaged or who are physically or mentally challenged are eligible to apply.
Although the Sun administers the program, it is the generous donations made by the valley's residents and businesses that have made the camp program a success every year. All contributions, whatever the amount, are welcome. If you'd like to help out, please clip the coupon below and mail it in with your donation. Thanks again, Las Vegas, for your generosity in lending a hand for these wonderful children.
