Abby Girl scores narrow victory in Railbird Stakes

Golden Ballet earned her first career victory by beating Shine Up Ciel by a half-length in the $92,775 Nursery Stakes.

Abby Girl, ridden by Corey Nakatani and carrying 119 pounds, covered seven furlongs in 1:22 2-5 and, as the 8-5 second-favorite, paid $5.20, $2.60 and $2.20.

Abby Girl's second straight stakes victory and fourth win in seven lifetime starts was worth $90,000, raising the Kentucky-bred daughter of Meadowlake's career earnings to $298,170.

Cover Gal, ridden by Laffit Pincay Jr. and carrying 122 pounds, crossed the finish line two lengths in front of Wired To Fly and returned $2.60 and $2.20.

Wired To Fly, ridden by Joe Bravo and carrying 122 pounds, was four lengths ahead of Classic Olympio at the wire and paid $2.40 to show. Miss Pixie was fifth and last in the 38th running of the race for 3-year-old fillies.

Golden Ballet, ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye and carrying 116 pounds, covered 4 1/2 furlongs in 51 seconds in winning the 32nd running of the Nursery Stakes for 2-year-old fillies, and paid $20.20, $7.40 and $4.60.

Golden Ballet lost to Shine Up Ciel by two lengths in her previous start.

Kisbey, the 2-1 favorite ridden by Nakatani, finished seventh.
