A 35-year-old Las Vegas woman was sentenced to five years in prison Thursday in connection with a drunken driving accident that took the life of a local bicyclist.
Michelle Wood must serve at least two years of her sentence before being eligible for parole in the June 13, 1998, death of Anthony Lisciandrello, 50.
Wood pleaded guilty to driving under the influence with the understanding that her sentence would be no more than five years and prosecutors would drop a leaving the scene of the accident charge.
Deputy District Attorney Bruce Nelson said Wood was traveling on Nellis Boulevard near Lake Mead Boulevard when she struck Lisciandrello from the rear, throwing him into her windshield.
Wood, who had been at a party earlier in the evening, left the scene of the accident and drove to a friend's home. The friend called 911.
Nelson said Wood had a blood alcohol content of 0.19 and 0.17 shortly after the accident.
