UNLV track team leads MWC meet

The UNLV track and field team is in first place after the second day of competition at the Mountain West Conference Championships at Provo, Utah.
Freshman heptathlete Chantel Yates, who led after the first day of the competition, finished second overall behind BYU's Anna-Lee Walcott.
Yates added 1,911 points to her total score for the day and finished with 5,032 points, 192 behind Walcott's 5,224.
Senior Heather Steadham dropped to fifth place after the second day, totaling 4,718 points.
With the heptathlon being the only event completed in the women's competition, Yates and Steadham have the Rebels in first place with 12 team points. BYU is close behind with 10. The running and field events begin today.
