Poetry readings

Making moves

Saturday matinees
An old-fashioned Saturday matinee film series begins at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Huntridge Theatre, 1208 E. Charleston Blvd., with Jest of the West Film Fest, featuring 1952 news reels, the Three Stooges in "Merry Mavericks" and Bob Hope and Jane Russell in "Son of Paleface." The series continues May 27 with Creep Fest, featuring news reels from 1946, the Three Stooges in "If a Body Meets a Body" and "House of Mirrors." Tickets are 50 cents. Call 229-6211.
Rock-a-Thon
Seniors from Village Oaks, 3025 E. Russell Road, will raise money for the Children's Miracle Network to benefit University Medical Center by rocking in rocking chairs from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. This will be their second annual Rock-a-Thon. Call 451-7896.
New concepts
Interested choreographers have until July 21 to enter chorographic proposals for the "Holiday Collage 2000," Nov. 30-Dec. 3 at the Reed Whipple Cultural Center. The event features the Las Vegas Youth Ballet Company and is sponsored by the Cultural and Community Affairs Division of Las Vegas' Department of Leisure Services and the Las Vegas Civic Ballet Association.
