The Bureau of Land Management said the four-acre test burns were to be conducted in late May or early June.
One was planned in the Pah Rah Range northeast of Sparks, the other in Churchill County's Edwards Creek Valley.
Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt suspended federal prescribed burns in the West after the fire near Los Alamos, N.M., got out of hand.
The blaze was ignited May 4 in Bandelier National Monument by the National Park Service to clear away dry brush and reduce the chance of wildfires.
The fire, which is still burning, destroyed about 260 homes and forced the evacuation of 25,000 people, including the entire town of Los Alamos.
