Directors considered for nonprofit monorail group

The Clark County Commission on Tuesday accepted the names of three candidates for the board of directors of the MGM Grand-Bally's Monorail LLC's nonprofit organization.
The monorail group said Gov. Kenny Guinn has already endorsed former county planner Terry Murphy, Nevada Title Company Chairman Terry Wright and Haycock Petroleum President John Haycock.
If the state approves a $600 million tax-free bond to fund the monorail system, which will link Bally's to the Sahara hotel-casino primarily using the Las Vegas Strip and Paradise Road, the nonprofit group will take over for the LLC.
A public hearing for the transfer of the LLC to the nonprofit Las Vegas Monorail Company is scheduled for 10 a.m. on June 20.
