Lobos dominate MWC baseball teams

New Mexico third baseman Aaron Sisk was honored as the Player of the Year, and Brigham Young outfielder Matt Carson was named Freshman of the Year as the Mountain West Conference announced its 2000 all-conference baseball teams and postseason awards, as selected by the league's coaches.
Rich Alday of New Mexico was selected as Coach of the Year. The Lobos had eight players on the squad, four each on the first and second teams.
Starting pitcher Ryan Olson was UNLV's lone representative on the first team. The Rebels' Andy McCulloch, a Western High graduate, was named the second team's relief pitcher.
BYU's Nick Day, a Green Valley High alumnus, was chosen as the second team left fielder.
