AP profit declines

Chemical products company American Pacific Corp. of Las Vegas said it earned $1.2 million or 16 cents per share before an extraordinary charge in its second quarter ended March 31, down from $2.1 million or 25 cents in the year-ago quarter.
After an extraordinary loss on debt extinguishment this year, net income was $600,000 or 8 cents per share.
Sales increased 4 percent, or $600,000, to $16.9 million. AP makes rocket and airbag propellants and fire extinguisher chemicals.
