The Stars limp back to Cashman Field to open a four-game series with the Tacoma Rainiers starting tonight at 7:05.
The Stars (19-14), who left for their eight-game road trip to Tacoma and Salt Lake City in the first place in the Pacific Coast league's South Division, return in second place after going 2-6 in that span. They were swept over the weekend by the Buzz.
Designated hitter Javier Valentin drove in Brian Buchanan with the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning on Sunday afternoon as Salt Lake rallied for a 7-4 victory at Franklin Covey Field.
Right-hander Junior Herndon opposes hard-throwing Tom Davey in tonight's series opener with Tacoma in a rematch of a pitching matchup from last week won by the Rainiers, 2-0.
