Police warn cars to dodge the deer
Sunday, May 14, 2000 | 3:45 a.m.
Police said it appears a deer herd was crossing McCarran Boulevard in an easterly direction from the nearby Carson Range when two animals were hit by cars.
One deer was killed instantly and the other was so severely injured that it had to be euthanized by officers.
The accidents occurred on a stretch of McCarran between Skyline and Cashill boulevards, where several other similar accidents have taken place in recent years.
"Motorists should always be aware of this hazard but should pay special attention to this area due to tonight's accidents," police Sgt. Dave Macaulay said.
