Sunday, May 14, 2000 | 3:54 a.m.
The Spaniard, riding a Honda, took advantage of a minor lapse in Abe's concentration to take the lead just as the Japanese rider seemed destined to win on the Bugatti track, which was staging a motorcycle Grand Prix for the first time in five years.
Criville beat Abe by .321 seconds in the 500cc.
American Kenny Roberts, who finished sixth, continues to lead in points 90-80 over Carlos Checa of Spain.
Japan's Tohru Ukawa won the 250cc race, and compatriot Youichi Ui took the 125cc event.
