Salt Lake City-based R.C. Willey Home Furnishings, known for its aggressive marketing campaigns, plans to open its first Nevada location next spring.
Construction is to begin in the next few weeks on the company's 162,500-square-foot store on a 15-acre site, at the corner of Stephanie Street and Interstate 215 in Henderson. The company also plans to open a separate Nevada Central Distribution Center at an as yet undetermined site in either Las Vegas or North Las Vegas.
Company spokesman John Rogers said the Las Vegas location will employ about 300 people when it opens next spring; the retailer plans to open more stores in the Metro Las Vegas area following the initial store opening.
Rogers said upon its arrival in Las Vegas, the company will likely emulate its aggressive advertising policy in Salt Lake City, where it is "the dominant home furnishing store by a wide margin."
"I would expect we will be a rather heavy advertiser in that (Las Vegas) market as well," he said.
